Work With Me

I provide online 1-to-1 therapeutic counselling sessions for clients who are struggling to be kind to themselves and are courageously seeking to build their self-esteem, discover their self-worth and find confidence in self-acceptance and authentic living.

I offer support with with:

→ Low self-esteem and self-worth
Explore and transform negative thoughts and feelings about yourself, learn to speak up about your own needs, emotions and boundaries, create a stable foundation of self-compassion, and overcome feelings of inferiority, failure, unimportance or self-dislike.

Self-criticism, self-judgment and shame
Befriend your ‘inner critic’ and examine the language and inner dialogue that frames you in a negative or not-good-enough light, learn how to acknowledge, accept and respond to your emotions with compassion and without judgment, defuse your self-identity from shame and self-criticism, and move forward from past mistakes.

General and social anxiety
Understand the roles of the nervous system, the mind and learned behaviour in anxiety, gain emotion regulation and self-soothing tools to create more calm day-to-day, and reframe your relationship to this neurophysiological human response for less fear and more freedom.

Emotional dysregulation and coping behaviours
Shift the way you think about and respond to your emotions, understand your triggers, expand your comfort zone, introduce more acceptance, compassion, flexibility and choice into your responses to life’s challenges, and find healthy ways of processing and expressing complex feelings.

Finding a sense of self, meaning or purpose
Gain new, liberating perspectives of what it means to feel lost, unsure, stuck or disconnected. Let’s assess what is important and meaningful to you in life, identify your core values, find your agency, release expectations and reframe seemingly insolvable problems.

It’s my philosophy that our fallibility is the magic sauce that connects us as humans, and the safer we feel to express ourselves honestly, acknowledge our shadows & own our mistakes, the warmer and freer we feel inside. I believe that self-compassion makes the strangeness of existing infinitely easier and more enjoyable. It allows us to de-centre our own egos and feel deeply connected to the world around us.

So many of us hold ourselves to unrealistic, astronomically high standards. We strive for massive personality and lifestyle change instead of starting at ground zero: self-acceptance. We exile parts of ourselves that we consider shameful, uncomfortable or undesirable, supress our shadows, and put ourselves under the pressure of masquerading and pretending to be perfect. When you accept yourself fully and put your values and authenticity before external expectations, conditioning and comparison, you no longer feel the need to suppress different aspects of yourself and deny the messiness of being human. Your ideas and priorities about who you need to be change, putting you back in power.

Therapy is right for you if:

You have a specific idea of the problems you would like to address and work on in therapy

You are ready to take accountability for making desired changes in your life

You understand that therapy is a collaborative process and requires input, openness and clarity from you as the client order to receive constructive and effectual support

You know that therapy is not a ‘quick fix’ and are willing to put in the time and practice, inside and outside of sessions

What to expect from therapy:

  • Sessions are conducted via Zoom and run for 50-minutes and usually on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for consistency and efficacy.

  • Our first consultation will clarify what you have outlined in your enquiry form and give us a chance to get to know each other so you can decide if you wish to book an initial session with me.

  • There is no limit on the number of sessions you can have as long as they are of therapeutic value. We will review after twelve sessions and give you an opportunity to assess how you will move forward. You may wish to continue weekly or biweekly sessions, reduce sessions to once a month or less, or decide to end counselling at that point.

  • You are under no obligation to continue therapy with me if you decide I am not the right fit for you and may end at any time.
